Exploring “Bad Monkey” with TV Creator Bill Lawrence

There’s an old saying that goes, “don’t meet your heroes,” but for TV creator and showrunner Bill Lawrence, it was a dream come true. Lawrence’s new series “Bad Monkey” for Apple TV+ is set to premiere on Wednesday and is based on a novel by one of his favorite authors, Carl Hiaasen.

Lawrence shared, “I started reading Carl Hiaasen books when I was 15 years old. There’s a direct line from Carl’s surreal satires and wildly insane character pieces to, like, ‘Scrubs.’ The guy helped me to be a storyteller. He turned out to be as cool as I hoped and such a good dude.”

In “Bad Monkey,” Vince Vaughn stars as Andrew Yancy, a former Miami police detective now working as a restaurant inspector in the Florida Keys. The series follows Yancy as he gets entangled in a case involving a mysterious human arm that washes up on the beach.

The show touches on themes of greed and power, as Yancy navigates through a web of intrigue and deception. Vaughn’s portrayal of Yancy brings a blend of humor and depth to the character, making it a perfect fit for the writing styles of both Hiaasen and Lawrence.

Alongside Vaughn, Michelle Monaghan and Natalie Martinez deliver captivating performances that elevate the storytelling to new heights. Monaghan plays Bonnie, Yancy’s love interest, while Martinez takes on the role of a medical examiner involved in the case.

The series offers a unique blend of mystery, humor, and drama, making it a must-watch for fans of the genre. With its engaging storyline and talented cast, “Bad Monkey” promises to keep viewers on the edge of their seats from start to finish.

Don’t miss out on this exciting new series premiering on Apple TV+ this Wednesday. Get ready to dive into the world of “Bad Monkey” and experience a thrilling ride unlike any other.
