The Importance of Safety: Making Dell Dale Safer for Pedestrians
Tragedy struck nearly two years ago on Dell Dale Street in east Harris County when Jacqueline Gonzalez lost her life in a fatal accident. In response to this heartbreaking event, county leaders have implemented a plan to improve pedestrian safety along Dell Dale.
Dell Dale Street is a crucial thoroughfare in the area, connecting I-10 and Wallisville Road. However, its lack of adequate safety measures has posed significant risks to pedestrians in the past.
The first phase of the safety improvement plan has recently been completed, marking a significant milestone in enhancing the safety of this busy street. Local leaders, including Harris County Pct. 2 Commissioner Adrian Garcia, came together to celebrate the opening of a new sidewalk at The Hallows apartment complex, located along Dell Dale just south of Wallisville.
Phase 1 of the plan is just the beginning. Phases 2 and 3 will involve the installation of a traffic signal and improved lighting to further enhance pedestrian safety along Dell Dale.
It is heartwarming to see the community come together to honor Jacqueline Gonzalez’s memory and work towards creating a safer environment for all pedestrians. Let’s strive to make our streets safe and accessible for everyone.
