Joseph Jebbia Faces Charges Connected to Deadly Police Chase
Joseph Jebbia made his first appearance in court on Thursday evening, facing four charges, three of which are linked to a tragic police chase earlier this week. In a separate incident, he also faces an aggravated kidnapping charge.
The judge set Jebbia’s total bond at $350,000, broken down as follows: $150,000 for the murder charge, $100,000 for the kidnapping charge, and $50,000 each for charges related to unlawful possession of armor and a firearm.
Authorities detailed how Jebbia was sought by law enforcement on a felony warrant out of Montgomery County. When deputies and US Marshals attempted to apprehend him at a gas station in north Houston, Jebbia fled, initiating a high-speed chase that ended tragically.
During the pursuit, Jebbia ran a red light and struck a vehicle before fatally hitting 61-year-old Carrie Mitchell, who was waiting at a bus stop. Despite the collision, Jebbia continued driving until he was eventually stopped and arrested near the Tomball Parkway.
Upon searching Jebbia’s vehicle, law enforcement discovered approximately a kilogram of fentanyl, body armor, and a loaded rifle.
