HOUSTON — Former Houston Texans wide receiver and kick returner Jacoby Jones has passed away, leaving a void in the football community. KHOU 11’s Zack Tawatari confirmed this heartbreaking news on Sunday morning.
Details surrounding his death have not been disclosed, but Tawatari revealed that Jones passed away peacefully in his sleep.
Jones, a third-round draft pick from Lane College in 2007, graced the field for the Houston Texans for five seasons, showcasing his talent until the 2011 season. He then made his mark with the Baltimore Ravens, contributing to a Super Bowl-winning team.
During his time in Houston, Jones scored on three punt returns and one kickoff. As a receiver, he added 11 touchdowns to his name while playing for the Texans.
His tenure with Baltimore from 2012 to 2014 was remarkable, notably with his exceptional performance in the 2013 Super Bowl victory against San Francisco, where he made history with a 108-yard kick return.
Jones concluded his professional career in the 2015 season, dividing his time between San Diego and Pittsburgh. His legacy includes 203 receptions, 2,733 receiving yards, and a total of 14 touchdowns, as reported by ESPN.com. He also left a mark with nine kick returns for touchdowns.
