CenterPoint Energy Unveils Enhanced Power Restoration Map for Houston Area
In the wake of Hurricane Beryl, CenterPoint Energy has launched an updated outage map to provide detailed information for residents still facing power outages in the Houston area. The new color-coded map now includes specific estimated restoration dates for different neighborhoods, offering a clearer picture of when power will be restored.
With restoration dates ranging from July 12 to July 19, the map aims to address previous limitations where only some areas had restoration estimates. This upgrade comes after an earlier version of the map failed during a severe storm in May 2024.
CenterPoint’s website now features three distinct maps, each serving a different purpose. One map provides exact restoration dates, another shows restoration progress, and a third displays peak outages during Hurricane Beryl’s impact on Southeast Texas. Users can easily find information for their specific address by using the search function located in the top left corner of the map.
The company also notes that some homes shown as energized but still without power may be experiencing a “nested outage,” where localized issues like damaged fuse lines or trees on service lines are causing delays in restoration. This improved map is designed to provide clearer and more accessible information as Houston continues its recovery from the aftermath of Hurricane Beryl.
