The Houston Astros’ Potential Opponents in the AL Wild Card Round
As the MLB playoffs approach, the Houston Astros are gearing up for their eighth consecutive postseason appearance. With a recent victory over the Mariners, the Astros secured their fourth consecutive American League West division title.
The upcoming playoffs are set to begin on Oct. 1st, with all games of the best-of-three series taking place at Minute Maid Park. As the No. 3 seed in the AL playoff bracket, the Astros will face either the Kansas City Royals or the Detroit Tigers in the Wild Card round.
The matchup will be determined by the outcomes of the remaining games. If the Tigers win and the Royals lose, Houston will face the Royals. However, if both teams win or lose on Saturday, the decision will come down to Sunday’s games.
Currently, the Tigers hold a one-game lead over the Royals, but Kansas City would win the tiebreaker in a scenario where they finish with the same records. In that case, the Astros would face the Tigers in the Wild Card round.
On the other side of the bracket, the Baltimore Orioles have also secured their spot in the Wild Card round, setting the stage for an exciting postseason battle.
The Astros are aiming to make a deep playoff run, with hopes of advancing to their eighth straight AL Championship Series and potentially clinching their fifth World Series appearance since 2017. Fans can show their support by snagging postseason tickets here.
