The Disappearance of Jeanie Chavez: A Mother’s Plea for Answers
It’s every parent’s worst nightmare – a child gone missing without a trace. For Annie Salcido, that nightmare is a harsh reality as she searches for her missing daughter, Jeanie Chavez.
“I just want some peace and some closure for this, give this 10-year-old some peace that her mom is okay, or her mom isn’t okay,” said Annie Salcido, Jeanie’s mom.
San Antonio Police are asking for help finding a missing 32-year-old woman, last seen north of Downtown. Jeanie Chavez has been missing for over a month, last seen on Aganier Avenue on July 15.
Jeanie’s 10-year-old daughter, Leah Garcia, bravely opens up about the impact of her mother’s disappearance. “Like I wake up all sweaty and like, I’m worried and stuff, and like I can’t sleep,” said Garcia.
According to Salcido, Jeanie had been struggling with addiction, but she was on the path to recovery. She was preparing to enter rehab and start anew. However, things took a turn for the worse when she vanished from her boyfriend’s house.
Despite numerous unanswered calls, Jeanie’s whereabouts remain a mystery. Salcido’s desperate plea for answers to law enforcement fell on deaf ears until she spoke up about the unusual circumstances surrounding Jeanie’s disappearance.
Salcido is determined to find her daughter and bring closure to their family. “I just want to know, and I just want some peace and some closure for this. Give this 10-year-old some peace that her mom is okay, or her mom isn’t okay,” said Salcido.
Leah also has a heartfelt message for her missing mother, “If anybody has her, please call us. If my mom can hear this, know that I love you, and you’re going to be okay.”
